Box of Kittens with Yapacc in secret venue

Friday, September 21, 2012

We are back. And we didn’t forget you.

We’ve been quietly planning away, learning from our last. And we didn’t stop until we found the perfect venue to celebrate together, while bathing in those pristine aural frequencies & that earth-shaking bass. For our next BOK, we’ll feature 12 BASSBINS that we can actually use. We’ve discovered a never-before-used, downtown venue that is encased inside solid concrete and brick, and can hold over 500 of you. It’s the last standing gem of underground spaces in Toronto.

Joining us on this allnight journey we are very proud to present:

BOX OF KITTENS residents..
HALI, MIKE GIBBS, and FABIO PALERMO

and special unannounced guest from Berlin, Germany [Perlon/Wir/Mothership]
and LEELEE MISHI [Suma/Sumkidz/Om Festival]

Founded in 1996, this producer teamed up with an unnamed Perlon outfit in 2003, joining a long list of influential collaborators including Zip, Markus Nikolai, Achim Treu (Der Plan), Max Loderbauer (Sun Electric), Robert Conroy, Miguel Toro, members of SeƱor Coconut and Einstuerzende Neubauten, and singer Robert Conroy from NYC, to name just a few.

With contributions on eight separate Perlon releases, they have had a hand in influencing the distinct sound of this world-renowned label. Heavily supported by a wide range of industry heavyweights, from previous BOK guest Akufen, Dee-Lite’s DJ Dimitri, and labelmate Ricardo Villalobos, which was ranked his prestigious annual Top 10 charts, they have gone on to help shape and define the future of club music.

Using experimentation on live music synthesis and the creation of their own hardware synthesizers, drum machines, and sequencers, they have pushed the boundaries of their music production far beyond any modern day laptop set. So, it’s our humble privilege to present this special guest performing live at our Box of Kittens.

Between the sound, the venue, and the performances, this will be one of our most ambitious and boomiest BOKs yet. Come join us as we pay homage to the underground, at this truly rare allnight rager.
